What Is Our Worship Service Like?

We are an extremely progressive church. We offer a contemporary style of worship, which reaches out to all kinds of believers. On a Sunday morning, you will hear JUDAH (our worship team) sing songs by Chris Tomlin, Kirk Franklin, Martha Manuzzi, Casting Crowns, Fred Hammond and many other Christian artists. On occasion, you will see our Dance Ministry in action during the service in a performance like no other. Other times, you may experience the dramatic presentations of a sermon by our Drama Team.

Of course, we have a dynamic young pastor named Pastor D, who delivers a breakthrough word of hope and deliverance. He is supported by a staff of ministers, as well as his Pastor, the prolific Rev. Emma Salter. Our church is considered a "teaching ministry." Although we do love to stomp our feet and clap our hands as animated as the next church, we believe it is important that believers be taught. Thus, sermons delivered at The Tabernacle are mostly presented in a lecture style. Don't sleep, on occasion Pastor D will go "old school" Pentecostal on you as well!

Our offertory is an awesome time for worship and is never invasive. We do not use group peer pressure, gimmicks or the power of suggestion to coerce people into giving. We adhere to a strict practice of tithing, according to the scriptures and freewill offerings, according to Luke 6:36 -38. Anytime you give, you will receive God's blessings.

What Is The Dress Code?

Scripture calls believers to be examples to those around them (I Timothy 4:12) and to give no offense to others (I Corinthians 10:32). Thus, we require members to follow the standard of modesty in dress and appearance. We should never allow our appearance to be a stumbling block for another person.

What does this mean practically? We are a "come as you are church." Typical Sunday Morning attire is casual and business casual. Men usually wear pants with a shirt or sweater, while women normally wear pants or skirts with a modest top. Your wardrobe is no reason to miss out on meeting Christ!

We do ask that you not wear overly revealing or extremely tight fitting clothing. We believe that it is inappropriate for gatherings of public worship and fellowship.

If you have specific questions and would like to speak to someone, please contact our church business office at 908 222-9990 between the hours of 8am and 4pm.
